Each of my bowls are thrown on the wheel using porcelain stoneware clay. The graphic on the bowl has been hand-carved into the surface using the sgraffito technique, which involves covering the bowl’s surface with my handmade black slip and carving away until the image is finished. This means that you can feel the slightly raised, carved texture when you wrap your hands around each one. While I create different series of designs, each bowl is made and decorated individually, so no two pieces are identical – each design is carefully matched with one of my hand-mixed coloured glazes. As my bowls are handmade, individual sizes may differ slightly. I do my best to keep them as consistent as possible.
